See information board at youth hostel: GPS N 58°43.473'   E 016°25.024'

How to get there
Stavsjö is located along the E4 approx. 40 km west of Nyköping. Exit the motorway at Stavsjö. Information boards are found at Stavsjö Klint and the youth hostel.

Skiren and Vårfruklostret
Follow section 32 to the south and round the beautiful Lake Skiren with crystal-clear water. After approx. 4 km, turn on to section 31:1 and follow this to the west. The trail goes along the bog Tranmossen and after 3 km you reach Vårfruklostret (Krokek deserted church) and Långa Längan. Signs describe the history of this interesting building. The site is one of the starting places for the Klosterleden trail, an approx. 250 km long pilgrim trail to Vadstena. Cold spring and rest place.

Giant’s kettle and Lake Gullvagnen
Continue along section 31:1 and you will pass an impressive giant’s kettle. Read about its history on the sign. The cholera cemetery with only two graves has an interesting history, which you can also read about. The trail takes you through a viaduct under the E4 and on to the small Lake Gullvagnen, good for bathing.

Östgötaleden Trail and charcoal pit
An area of predominantly young forest follows and you will reach the point where the Östgötaleden Trail joins Sörmlandsleden. Continue along Sörmlandsleden and you soon come to another dividing point. Here you take section 31 towards Stavsjö and the last 4 km back to the starting point. On the way you pass a well-preserved charcoal pit and the remains of a charcoal burner’s hut.

Blisters or bad weather
Should you get blisters on your feet or be surprised by bad weather, you can shorten the route by walking the old main road from Vårfruklostret to Stavsjö. The walk then becomes 9 km.
